Mueang-Nam Sustainable
development services Centre
Mueang-Nam Sustainable development services Centre (MNSC), based in Kunming, Yunnan, is dedicated to promoting sustainable development in mountain communities. In December 2024, it was recognized as a 4A-level social organization by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs.
MNSC works by exploring and revitalizing ecological culture, supporting and accompanying community facilitators, and strengthening community agency. Its initiatives help mountain communities across Southwest China nurture ecological culture, reinforce community spirit, and build local resilience. Through these efforts, MNSC enables communities to address challenges such as climate change, biodiversity conservation, and rural revitalization, while fostering sustainable futures.

The name “Mueang-Nam” embodies the vision of creating a beautiful, thriving home in the lush landscapes of southern China and carries the aspiration of “dreams fulfilled.”

Community Work

Climate Change Adaptation
A multi-actor participation approach is adopted, combining local wisdom and science to promote locally-led action to combat climate change.
Assisting Rural Revitalization
Under the guidance of the government, the participation of farmers is promoted through community leaders, self-organization support, and village-wide services; farmers are put in the driving seat to achieve the integration of the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors.
Ecological Culture and Biodiversity
The focus is on community initiatives building support, using cultural research to identify values and issues and to develop protection and inheritance plans for implementation.
